They can be rolled down partially or completely to add a small or full amount of privacy to the room. Some things to consider Before you decide on your blind and measure up look at the window and check for obstacles which may obstruct the operation of the blind. These are usually things like handles on the windows. Bear in mind that the blind will need to be positioned so that it does not catch any handles or other obstructions so that it can be operated smoothly. Ensure you are happy with the position the blind will take. Roller blinds can have the operating chain on either side so you can choose which side works best for your window. Ideally the chain should be easy to reach and use. There are also a number of finishes that can be applied to our Roller Blinds, such as dim out, blackout and wipe clean. For rooms such as bathrooms, kitchens and other damp prone environments, a wipe clean material is a good choice as it will be easier to keep clean. Dim out and blackout fabrics and linings are ideal for bedrooms and rooms that are exposed to lights from outside, as these will help to reduce the light coming through the window. For the finishing touches to your blind you can choose from a number of decorative finishes including eyelets, shapes or bottom bars. These will enhance the look and style of the blind and give something that is a bit different from the normal plain style of a roller blind. Blackout roller blinds Roller blinds are one of the best ways to block out light in a room, especially in bedrooms where outside lights and the sun in the mornings can often wake people up. However please note that only the fabric of the blind will be blackout and some light will still filter around the sides of the blind. This can be reduced by fitting the blind as close to the window frame as possible - but don't forget about any obstacles such as handles protruding from the window. Alternatively another solution would be to fit the roller blind behind blackout curtains, and close them both. This will reduce the light as much as possible and is a great tried and tested solution that especially works well in childrens rooms so that they aren't awoken due to light coming through the window. Caring for your roller blind Very little dust is collected on a roller blind making them very practical to clean and maintain. Any wet splashes should be removed immediately to avoid staining - most fabrics are sponge or wipe clean. For the best advice on cleaning your roller blind refer to the individual care instructions for your particular blind.

Detailed Description

Opulence is a stunning plain jacquard fabric featuring a very soft chenille effect handle. There will also be a fitting guide included but you can also view, download or print our online fitting guide for roller blinds. Fixing your roller blinds We recommend using the appropriate fixing depending what type of surface you are fixing your blind to. See our suggestions of the most common fixing methods: Wooden Windows If you are fixing your blind directly into a wooden window you should ensure that you use wood screws of at least 25mm (or longer if your frame will allow) in order to make sure that the blind is properly and securely fixed. PVC Windows Fixing your blind into uPVC windows is not recommended as this may invalidate any warranty you have with your window supplier. We would recommend fixing the blind to the wall above the window, either inside or outside the recess using the appropriate fixing for your wall type. Fixing to a wall We recommend using Raw Plugs or Hollow wall fixings. However please bear in mind that when raising and lowering the blind there will be a pulling force exerted on the side of the blind with the pull chain, so you should ensure that the fixings are particularly firm on that side.
